Jose E. Coll (MSW, University of Central Florida; PhD, University of South Florida) is associate professor of social work and director of the Office of Veteran Student Services at Saint Leo University, where he oversees services and resources for over 7,400 student veterans annually. Coll has developed numerous programs to enhance student veteran success, such as transition courses for veterans and the development of the Veteran Student Emergency Fund, which provides assistance to student veterans in financial crisis while attending Saint Leo University. Professor Coll is a fellow of the 2014-2015 American Council on Education.

Eugenia L. Weiss (MSW, University of Southern California; PsyD, Alliant International University) is clinical associate professor of social work at the University of Southern California, where she is also co-coordinator of the military social work sub-concentration at the university s Virtual Academic Center. Weiss maintained a private practice for eighteen years working with military personnel and their families.

Great read. I recommend purchasing this book. It will provide you with the insight to how we need to be in tuned to the Education system to ensure the success for students. We must ensure that parents, teachers and school administrators are on the same page when it comes to educating students and to promote collaboration between all for the success of the student.

I received this book as a gift. It is full of practical strategies and ideas. I like the idea of teaching the elements of systemic change to staff and incorporating systems thinking coursework into teacher preparation programs. Also I enjoyed reading about the useful approaches for making college and career readiness concrete for students. A Good Read!

It is also an interesting book in terms of the discussion around teacher preparation programs and the need to prepare education students. That Laura Fleming isn't better known as an innovator in education is about to change! Fleming's recently released "Worlds of Making" is perhaps one of the best and most refreshingly readable books that can literally transform the way we teach our students. Fleming is clearly a practiced writer with an eye for presenting new ideas in short narratives to nourish critical thinking. What makes this book sing are the revolutionary ideas that are so easy to implement.

This far-sighted educator's greatest asset is she practices what she preaches and can give a first-hand account of the "Maker Movement's" classroom success. Anyone who cares about igniting the imagination of today's students needs to read this book!

Laura's work at New Milford High School was a huge inspiration for me as I created my school's library Makerspace. Her book is a fantastic look at the process she went through in creating her space. She gives a thorough, well-researched look at the relevance of the Maker Movement in education, how it ties into education standards, and how it can enhance learning. She offers plenty of practical advice on the planning process of creating a Makerspace, how to build a Maker culture in your school, and offering your students opportunities to share their work. This is an excellent book and well worth purchasing for anyone interested in Makerspaces and education trends.

Her research interest is epithelial transport, and work in her laboratory currently focuses on transport properties of the chick allantoic membrane. She began her teaching career in the Physiology Department at the Medical University of South Carolina but over the years has taught a wide range of students, from medical and college students to those still preparing for higher education. At the University of Texas she lectures in physiology, coordinates student laboratories in physiology, and instructs graduate students in a course on developing teaching skills in the life sciences. She has substantial experience with active learning in the classroom and has given workshops on this subject at regional, national, and international conferences. Dee is currently editor-in-chief of Advances in Physiology Education and past-chair of the Teaching Section of the American Physiological Society. She works with members of the International Union of Physiological Sciences to improve physiology education in developing countries. She is also a member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society, the Society for Comparative and Integrative Biology, the Association for Biology Laboratory Education, and the Society for College Science Teaching. Her free time is spent creating multimedia fiber art and enjoying the Texas hill country with her husband, Andy, and their three dogs.

Very similar problems to the Construction Depth

Exam has very similar problems to the National Construction Depth exam. Treat this as an actual exam - Use only the references you're planning to take, put away the cell phone, and block off four hours to run through the exam. The one exception: keep a sheet of paper to write down things you wish you had or topics that you want to study again / more in depth. My only (small) complaint are the theoretical questions. NCEES can pull almost any theoretical question from any of the references (and they certainly did during the April 2015 exam), so the theory questions should be taken with a grain of salt. All of the computation based questions are spot on and will expose any weaknesses. This is one of the best sample exams out there (along with the NCEES published sample exam).

As anyone who has taken the PE Exam knows, trying to figure out which manuals and references to use and study from can be a very daunting task. I stumbled upon the LearnCivilEngineering.com website by accident and boy am I glad I did! The entire site is full of great information and great resources. One of them is the Construction Depth Practice Exam and Assessment Guide. It was a great resource in helping me study and really helped me feel prepared for the exam! All their resources are great and a must buy for anyone taking the Civil PE Exam!

Construction Depth Practice Exam 1st Edition

I purchased the first edition of this practice exam in January '15 in preparation for the April Construction Depth P.E. The practice exam is well structured and very similar to the style and difficulty level of the actual exam. This exam does an excellent job of incorporating multiple elements of a topic into each question, preparing you for the different ways in which a question may be asked. Providing the topic and subtopic heading (ex. Construction Operations and Methods: Dewatering and Pumping) for each question helped me quickly identify areas of strength or weakness and also provided a quick reference for the accompanying "Guide to Passing the Civil PE" by the same author. I definitely recommend picking up this practice exam in preparation for the Construction Depth P.E.

The only book on Kindle Unlimited you need!

I recently noticed several books on Kindle Unlimited, and was curious as to why so many Kindle authors themselves are saying it’s not a good idea.

That’s why I was so happy to read Barb Asselin’s detailed analysis of who can benefit from this program and why. Barb Asselin is a bestselling Kindle author herself, and she explains how the program works, and which authors benefit from it. I’m sure she is an avid reader (most authors are) and has tried out the program herself to see the benefits. What I like about this book is that Barb doesn’t tell you what to do, but gives you the information to make your own decision. As a book lover and author myself, I found this book very helpful.

Understanding Kindle Unlimited

I found this to be a fair, even-handed discussion of the Kindle Unlimited program for both reader and writer/publisher. I particularly liked the breakdown and discussion of potential earnings, especially the section where the author provides her own experience with the program.
