Great Children's Bible!

I am always looking for ways to teach my 8 and 10 year old about the Bible. I know they get bored with some of the wording in the regular Bible. I am always looking for Bibles that are created with kids in mind. This is a great way to teach your children about the Bible, but it really does make it fun for them. The Beginner's Bible Stories About Jesus is a great Bible that was written with kids in mind.

The Beginner's Bible Stories About Jesus is a colorful book. This makes it fun for children to read. The Book is written with simple text. This makes is easy for children to read, but it also makes it so they aren't frustrated while reading. My kids enjoyed the colorful pictures on the pages too. This children's Bible is the perfect length too. It isn't too long, and that makes it easy for children to read. The Beginner's Bible Stories About Jesus is a Bible that teaches stories about Jesus. It tells about Jesus and Mary. It explains that Jesus was the son of God. This Children's Bible includes stories like Jesus Calms the Storm, Jesus and the Children, Jesus Feeds Thousands, and more.

My 8 and 10 year old enjoyed this Bible. It is a great resource to have if you want a Bible that will teach your children, and do so at their level. The stories are simplified for children. They are interesting, and my children enjoyed taking turns reading this. This is a good bible to use for Bible study too. This is a hardbound children's Bible that looks like it will hold up to children that might even be a little rough with the books. The pages are make of durable cardboard, and this is definitely a plus!

Great for all Three of my Little Ones!

I really like reading little board books to my kids during our devotions! Now that Jax is fifteen months old he is a book lover too! These books are soft with rounded edges even though they are technically still hardback so you get the best of both worlds! He can't tear or bend the cover but he also can't get hurt by it.

Reed and Paige have to do nightly reading for school so we combine it with our family devotions. It's been a real joy to watch Reed learning how to read this year and there is nothing I love more than watching him read to his younger brother and sister! Jax likes to grab the pages and turn them before he's done. That's when I know he really likes the pictures and wants to see more!

Stories About Jesus is a beginners Bible perfect for his age. While the stories are written a little young for my five and seven year olds; they are actually great for new readers.

These are very basic versions of the most well known Bible stories. Since they are designed for little ones, we like to expand on them a bit with the older kids. It's a great time for questions and answers but also gives enough information for a basic story for the little ones. It's really the best of both worlds for our growing family.

I really liked the pictures because of their bright colors and even though everyone looks slightly silly with their oversized eyes; there's also something endearing about their appearances.

This year this would make a really cute Easter basket stuffer for the babies and toddlers in your life! They can safely turn the pages and even joy the pictures that jump out at them while beginning readers can begin to read the words for themselves in this Beginners Bible!

Perfect Children's Book for Learning About Jesus

My sons and I love The Beginner's Bible stories and this book was no exception! There are seven mini stories included in the book starting from the birth of Jesus into adulthood, and ending with his resurrection that saved us all. It is a padded board book, so the inside pages are nice and hard, but the outside is softer. This is wonderful to have this kind of durability for books that are treasured and loved!

The writing is very simple to understand and I believe any first or second grader would have no problem reading this book by themselves. Unless of course they wanted an adult to read it to them! My oldest, who is five is learning how to read and he knew many of the words in the story. I like that the writing is easy to comprehend and the illustrations are so lively and colorful!

We do many of these books as bedtime stories in our house and my boys love falling asleep to the heroic and true events depicted in The Beginner's Bible series. I think this book was their most favorite so far because it is all about Jesus. They adore the pictures and the stories, and I enjoy the fact that they are getting to know more about our Lord and the Bible.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone. Even though it is a children's book, the concepts included in here could be understood by anyone. It is a terrific book for family to read and share together all the greatness that the Lord has done.

I am not using the Paleo diet. But I have a gluten-intolerant family member. These recipes fit well into her dietary requirements. And I don't have to stock a wide variety of hard-to-find, expensive ingredients. The whole family can enjoy the same recipe. That makes life a lot easier for the cook(me).

Great phonics workbook!

These Steps to Literacy workbooks recently released in the United States by The Learning Staircase, are a great find! As a parent of a struggling reader and a literacy tutor for older students, I was excited to come across a set of workbooks that not only teaches phonics, but also includes exercises that help develop fluency and addresses underlying cognitive issues, such as visual discrimination and memory. I have used several different resources, but none is as all encompassing as Steps to Literacy. My students have found these workbooks to be challenging, yet rewarding, as skills are mastered, and I highly recommend them. The author is from New Zealand, so occasionally you may find a word used which we spell differently, but otherwise, there is no language difference. I am also looking forward to the release of her beginner reading workbooks, called First Steps, which will be great for those students who are just beginning to learn to read.

An Absolute Must For Any Teacher Who Teaches Writing (K-8)

This book is a wonderful read! I started implementing modeled writing before I finished the book and it shocked me at the immediate growth my Kindergarten student showed. The transformation for my students was exciting. I have always struggled at how to teach writing. I always thought that the students disliked writing because it took time and patience. While this is still true (it takes patience and time), I now know that my students disliked writing because they didn't really know how to do it. This book lays out strategies for any teacher to help his or her students learn how to write. I highly recommend this book for any beginning or seasoned teacher!

Lots of money, coffee, and time (and a Masters degree in decoding educational jargon) necessary to read this book

This book was required reading for a Master's course on Curriculum Development. Since no preview is available, I will list the tablet of content below:

7. Improving a Field of Studies
8. Processes for Developing New Courses and Units
9. Supervising the Curriculum
10. Curriculum Development and Implementation
11. Aligning the Curriculum
12. Curriculum Evaluation
13. Current Developments in the Subject Fields
14. Current Developments Across the Curriculum
15. Individualizing the Curriculum

Chapters 1-4 are tough sledding. I struggled trying to understand these passages-- written like an educational encyclopedia, riddled with educational jargon. Page-after-page, I kept asking myself questions such as, "What is the significance of this paragraph?" "Wait, what does that mean?" "And, this is important because....?"

Although it never becomes enjoyable reading, the coherency of the writing and pace of reading begins to pick up during Chapter 6, only to take a dive shortly therefore (Chapters 9-12). As a classroom teacher, Chapters 13-15 were the chapters I found most interesting, but I use that phrase very loosely.

While it was not directly stated, the book is clearly aimed primarily at curriculum leaders such as principals and superintendents. As a classroom teacher, it was difficult to make most of the book applicable.

My guess is that if you're reading this review, you have no choice in purchasing/reading this book because it is likely required reading according to your merciless professor. While I never recommend "skimming," my advice is to get what you need from this book, but slow down to read the charts and tables. In my opinion, if you read the tablets/charts, you will understand the bulk of this textbook. If you are a person who will have a future in curriculum development, don't "rent" the book (tempting as that will be, considering the astronomical cost) because it provides step-by-step procedures regarding how to plan, assemble, and develop meetings and procedures necessary to change, modify, and improve curriculum.

If, however, you do have a choice, run! Run away! Run to "Understanding By Design" (2nd Edition) by Wiggins. It is a much more interesting and applicable book for teachers wishing to improve their skill at planning units.

I have taken many education classes throughout two masters programs and my undergrad studies. I have never had to read a book as bad as this one. I despised every second that I spent trying to decipher whatever theoretical nonsense these authors were spewing. I cried a few times. In other reviews, some have felt that the book improved after the first few chapters. I was so angry after the first five that I never made it to those later chapters. This is the kind of book where you literally struggle paragraph to paragraph to make sense of what you are reading. One researcher's theory blends into the next, with no clues given as to how it all fits together. You can read a 30 page chapter and feel like you didn't learn a thing. The book is sorely lacking in examples and anecdotes. I have never written a review before but felt that fellow educators needed to know-- if there is anything you can do to take a curriculum course that doesn't require you to use this book, please do yourself a favor and make it happen.

It's a textbook - can't say that I gained anything Earth-shattering from it. Unfortunately few of us in the class read this one as it is dry and overpriced.

Inspiring!

This is a remarkable, inspiring book of – yes, you guessed it – remarkable, inspiring teachers. What springs to mind when I read this? That ordinary people can do extraordinary things. That beliefs COUNT. That teachers are pretty special, indeed.

This book? It’s a gift to the world, an act of love that shows how important teachers are, throughout history. We know the stories of some – Christa McAuliffe, Robert Moses, Dave Sanders. The stories of others I didn’t know both educate and warm my heart, from coping with racism to the frontier, from gender to social change. This is a history book, an ode to the teaching profession, and a deep look into the lives of teachers. But most of all, it’s a compilation of incredible lives, spent in the pursuit of something they cherished. That is, indeed, remarkable.

This book is great!! I really enjoyed reading it. It has a lot of information on how to improve your brain. It's good to know that I am on the right track, but need to incorporate some more stuff to help my brain. He suggests activities, food, exercise and games to assist you with becoming smarter. I'm glad I read this book. It is written well and easy to understand. I will follow his suggestions and become smarter!! Thanks!

A simple yet very enlightening book. This is a great reading material to start enhancing your mental prowess. The information is sufficient to support the title of the book on how to increase intelligence: from the proper diet: eating brain- healthful food such as nuts and fish; exposing self to Vitamin D and loading the body with Vitamin E etc. Definitely, worth every cents.
